Craig Easton

Updated: May 22, 2019

Todays guest lecturer was Craig Easton, I have included the notes that I jotted down during the talk. I found his talk to be interesting and full of useful content to help figure out how to tackle the world of business after university. Looking at his website after the session, I found the content to be incredibly broad as he shoots landscape and people photographs for clients and personal projects worldwide. He is known for his dramatic landscape work and his intimate portraits of real lives. In advertising he brings the same mix of drama and reality to a wide range of international clients.

His early career was defined by his work for the groundbreaking Independent newspaper in London and he has since gone on to win numerous awards for both his commissioned work and personal projects. His personal work is deeply rooted in the documentary tradition often mixing portrait photographs with his clear, graphic depiction of the landscape.

One subject that I found really interesting was the 16 project. He was talking about his experiences traveling around Scotland asking 16 years olds on their view on the political stand point for Scotland to leave the EU and what they wish to achieve growing up and how their history has effected the,. He spoke about how he was surprised by certain individuals such as a boy that lived within the traveler community had articulated his views on the event.
