Cultural Product- The Photographers' Gallery

Updated: May 22, 2019

I wasn't able to take images at this gallery, I asked the gentleman at the front desk if I could as it was for a school project but he sadly denied me to do so. However, I managed to note down the artists which were being represented at the gallery, who were, Tish Murtha who at the age of 20 left Newcastle Upon Tyne to study at the school of Documentary Photography at Newport College of Art, under the guidance of magnum photographer David Hurn. She chose a career in photography so as to highlight the social disadvantages that she herself suffered by photographing the realities of everyday life in disadvantaged areas and communities - within her hometown.

Another artist that was exhibited here was Alex Prager, her work covered two floors of the gallery, the exhibition encompasses over 40 photographs including her trademark large- scale technicolour photographers along side her complete film works. Her distinctive work crossed the worlds of art, fashion photography and film.
